Ultimately, every body seeks its own wholeness. As a massage therapist, I see my role as a facilitator of healing, partnering with my clients in their efforts to achieve greater balance and more optimal physical function. In my work, I combine various techniques, from the long flowing strokes of Swedish/Western massage to trigger point release, to stretching and muscle energy techniques that are typical for sports massage. With each session, I give suggestions to help the client enhance overall, long-term well being. There is nothing more satisfying to me than helping individuals overcome pain, physical limitation, and dysfunction.

Having played rugby in college, I have a lot of experience in regards to sore muscles.
And now that I am teaching gymnastics, I have an even deeper understanding
of the importance of a body that is well stretched and equally balanced in its musculature.
Although my basic training has been in Swedish relaxation massage, I have concentrated
my studies in Sports and Clinical Deep Tissue.  I have completed over 600 hours and have
brought my skills to participants at numerous sporting events.  My heart-felt dedication is to bring
all my knowledge and expertise to my clients, athletic or not, to help them live better, more exciting lives.

Becky Wecks, Advanced Therapist

  • Advanced Swedish/Western
  • Clinical Deep Tissue
  • Sports Massage
  • Deep work
  • Partial sessions in Craniosacral

My initial education was in Swedish Massage, Sports Massage, and Deep Tissue.  Over time, as most of us do, I have taken a number of workshops and have developed an integrative style that is slow, deep, and incorporates many of the modalities I have learned.  In the last few years, I have been studying Craniosacral Therapy.  These classes have taught me the importance of listening with my hands and allowing the body’s intelligence to lead me.  I love letting each session evolve around individual client’s needs.  This keeps my work fresh and alive.

I’ve been practicing professionally since 1996, specializing in Deep  Tissue/Clinical work, injury prevention/recovery, repetitive strain injuries, athletic conditions, and prenatalmassage.  More than just for relaxation, the therapeutic benefits of massage, as well as bodywork, reduce the negative affects of mental and physical stress, enhance the body’s immune system, and improve athletic performance. On a daily basis, I practice yoga and meditation to develop presence as well as clarity. This allows me to let go of excessive energy accumulated throughout the day and helps me to restore my own energy.  I am dedicated in assisting my clients to achieve healthy, happy, pain-free lives.

Elizabeth Heath, Advanced Therapist

  • Advanced Swedish/Western
  • Neuromassage
  • Shiatsu
  • Deep work

I specialize in treating clients with deep tissue massage for specific complaints as well as wanting an overall relaxing experience. I begin by enhancing a deeply relaxed state so that the muscles will be more receptive to deep manipulation. During deep tissue work, I address both the specific muscles exhibiting symptoms, and the muscular and postural patterns which caused those symptoms to develop. I use a combination of deep gliding strokes, Shiatsu points, stretching, and other techniques as appropriate. My aim is to give you an enjoyable and beneficial experience with a sensitive and well trained massage therapist.

Estel Pereira, Advanced Therapist

  • Swedish/Western
  • Neuromassage
  • Craniosacral Therapy
  • Lymphatic Drainage
  • Deep work

My approach is to provide a deep relaxing massage in the hopes of allowing my clients the opportunity and safety to ‘just let go and be with themselves.’ I combine Swedish/Western massage, structural work, and neuro-massage into this foundation to address each client's desires to be more pain free, to come back to her/his body, to walk a little better because the hips are looser, to even out the shoulders, or to ease the tightness in the neck. I try to incorporate energy work at every level. Of central importance to me is that the client come back to her/his body, feel wholeness, and hopefully allow whatever healing is needed. Every day I am inspired with this profound work.

Clients are unique individuals whose energy and therapeutic needs change from day to day. This approach encourages me to adapt each treatment according to the client's wishes at any particular moment. Communication is as important to me as intuition and skill. Thus, my work can range from gentle and nurturing, to deep and energizing. I am excited to be part of such a skilled, creative team at Massage Therapy Center.

Lara Berthiaume, Advanced Therapist

I have been a full-time professional massage therapist for seven years. Throughout my career I have worked with many different clients with a broad range of physical issues. Besides my basic training in Swedish/Western massage, I have studied extensively one-on-one with several teachers of structural integration and clinical deep tissue. My clientele benefits from basic stress-eleasing work, as well as relief from specific medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis. I have a passion for my work and I am dedicated to continuously learning adjunct bodywork skills through experience and external studies which include advanced techniques in orthopedic massage.

Lesa Atkins, Basic Therapist

  • Swedish/Esalen
  • Sports Massage

I am a graduate of Body Therapy Center School of Massage and having had spinal fusion surgery myself, I have direct experience with how professional, compassionate bodywork can truly facilitate healing! My personal and professional study of the spinal musculature provides me with expertise to address those places that create tension in the low back and neck/shoulder areas. Upon consultation with my client, I design a session utilizing slow Swedish strokes as well as deep muscle contact. I then employ gentle stretching to facilitate the lengthening of muscle fibers, as well as cross fiber tissue manipulation to release patterns of holding. My goal is to provide an effective, therapeutic massage experience—caring for the whole body as well as allowing the mind to rest.

Soothing, gentle strokes and wave mobilization promote relaxation and muscle lengthening. Orthopedic assessment and postural analysis guide work to relieve specific pain complaints. I began my professional work in 1998 and average a thousand massages per year. Listening is a central concept of my treatment plan. I listen with my hands and my heart -- then I use my training and ten years of experience to customize each session to meet current needs and expectations. I love teaching and also enjoy my position as an instructor at Body Therapy Center School of Massage.
