What about massage for minors?
Therapists may provide massage for minors under 18 with parental consent. Please sign this parental consent form prior to your children’s massage sessions.
Do you accept insurance for massage?
We do not bill insurance directly but we can provide a superbill if you complete this superbill request form.
A superbill is a detailed receipt that you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your plan. The superbill includes the required service and provider information, but all insurance claims and follow-ups are handled by the client. Please note insurance reimbursement is not guaranteed and varies by plan. MTC doesn’t verify benefits, submit claims, or communicate with insurance companies. Reimbursement, if approved, is issued directly to you by your insurer.
(1) Will my health insurance cover massage therapy?
Insurance coverage for massage therapy varies widely by plan. Many health plans do not cover massage therapy, even when it is medically necessary. Some plans may offer limited out-of-network reimbursement, but specific requirements often apply.
(2) Common requirements may include:
- A referral or prescription from a physician, physical therapist, or other licensed medical provider
- A covered diagnosis
- Coverage limited to certain provider types or settings
- Annual visit limits or deductibles
Because insurance benefits are determined by your individual plan, we are unable to determine coverage on your behalf.
(3) How does a superbill help?
We can provide a superbill, which is a detailed receipt you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
A superbill:
- Documents the services you received
- Includes provider credentials, service codes, and diagnosis codes
- Allows you to submit a claim directly to your insurance
A superbill does not guarantee reimbursement and does not override your insurance plan’s coverage rules.
(4) Important things to know
- We do not bill insurance directly
- We do not contact insurance companies or submit claims
- We do not verify coverage or benefits
- Reimbursement decisions are made solely by your insurance provider
- If reimbursement is approved, payment is issued directly to you, not to our clinic
Some insurance plans require that massage therapy be prescribed and provided by specific medical professionals (such as a physician, physical therapist, or acupuncturist). In these cases, a superbill from a massage therapist may not be reimbursed.
(5) What should I do if I’m unsure?
We recommend contacting your insurance provider directly and asking:
- Whether your plan covers massage therapy
- Whether a referral or prescription is required
- Whether services by a massage therapist are eligible for reimbursement
- Whether out-of-network benefits apply
Do you accept HSA/FSA for massage?

How much should I tip?
Tipping is encouraged to let your therapist know how much you appreciate the session. We recommend 20-25%. Tip envelopes are provided at the front desk.
What are the benefits of massage?
Massage bodywork enhances a deeper connection to the healing pathways inherent in the body’s tissues and organs in order to enhance wellness throughout. Massage reduces anxiety by decreasing the cortisol stress hormone. It boosts the immune system by facilitating increased blood and lymph circulation, thus aiding in the elimination of metabolic wastes, reducing inflammation, and supporting the body’s healing and recovery.
What should I expect in my first massage?
We suggest you arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment to fill out our brief intake form. Once you have been greeted by your therapist and escorted to your room, you will be asked certain questions to ensure that the session will fulfill your needs. You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable.
What do I wear during a massage?
Partial or full disrobing is recommended for your massage session. Acupressure massage sessions do not require disrobing. We create a very safe environment and give great attention to proper draping. Feel free to speak with your therapist if you have any questions or concerns.
Can I bring my child or pet with me?
Since it is our responsibility to create a peaceful atmosphere for all of our clients, we ask that you not bring children or pets. We make exceptions for service dogs.
